Uganda: Smallholder Tea Rehabilitation Project

The objective of the project was an increase of the green leaf production and the rehabilitation of existing tea fields of small growers in Western Uganda. The target group consisted of about 8,800 small farmers with a planted tea area of about 9,000 ha. The increase in smallholder production of green leaf was expected to result in higher incomes and a higher standard of living for farmers, an improvement of the financial situation of the UTGC and an increase of tea exports.
